“Offshore”, is the riveting tale of the summer Catherine went on a short but exciting offshore voyage in a 44 foot boat with John, John and John. And lived to tell about it. Real men don’t check the weather, so they had a little trouble with a gale off the Washington coast. While face-down in the potato peelings left over from Neah Bay, she decided to write about the experience. Spurred by an acute case of post-traumatic stress disorder, that is what she did. Offshore was nominated for the Leacock Medal.

Offshore is vintage Catherine Dook: charming, funny and heartwarming.
The difference between adversity and adventure is attitude, and Catherine Dook captures not only the joy of sailing when everything is going right, but also the humor in the inevitable challenges sailors face when things aren't going quite so smoothly. After all, some of the worst times make the best stories. Truly a delightful book.
